BYD Offers $4,000 Cash Back on Its Best-Selling Sealion 7 Electric SUV

BYD is opening the new sales quarter with a fresh incentive for buyers of its most popular electric vehicle in Australia. The automaker has introduced a $4,000 cash-back offer covering both the Premium and Performance versions of the Sealion 7 SUV. To qualify, customers must complete their purchase by December 21, 2026, and take delivery before the end of that year.
Since arriving on the market in February of last year, the Sealion 7 has racked up over 30,000 sales, placing it second only to Tesla’s Model Y in the local EV rankings, with more than 17,000 units moved in Australia this year alone. The lineup starts at 63,990 before on-road costs for the range-topping Performance variant. The base Premium runs a single 230 kW rear-mounted motor that accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 6.7 seconds.
Both variants share an 82.56 kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate blade battery pack, capable of DC charging at up to 150 kW. An 11 kW onboard AC charger supports three-phase charging, helping owners top up more quickly at compatible stations. The Premium model delivers a claimed range of 482 km, a figure that suits daily commuting as well as the occasional longer journey. Inside, drivers get a 15.6-inch infotainment display with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, paired with a 12-speaker Dynaudio audio system.
On the global stage, BYD moved more than 2.2 million battery-electric vehicles in 2025, outpacing Tesla’s roughly 1.7 million deliveries, while also posting strong export growth. In the Australian market, the brand has its sights set on Toyota and, based on recent monthly trends, could overtake Hyundai, Kia, Mazda and Ford to claim second place by year’s end. If that momentum holds, 2026 may mark the first time BYD surpasses 100,000 local sales.
