BYD Launches Da Han EV: Flagship Sedan Priced From $35,050 With 1,008 km Range

BYD has officially put its new Dynasty flagship sedan, the Da Han EV, on the market, and the company has done so at prices distinctly under the levels it had floated during pre-sales. The large all-electric sedan is offered in three variants, spanning 235,900 yuan to 275,900 yuan — roughly $35,050 to $41,000 at current exchange rates.

The price cut relative to pre-sales is notable. When the Da Han opened for reservations at the Chengdu Auto Show on August 21, the three versions were listed at 249,900, 269,900 and 299,900 yuan. Final sticker prices came in 14,000, 20,000 and 24,000 yuan lower respectively, a move that lowers the entry cost of the brand’s Dynasty line flagship.

Range and charging sit at the center of the pitch. Every Da Han carries a 102.3-kWh pack from BYD’s second-generation Blade Battery family. The two rear-wheel-drive variants are rated at a CLTC range of 1,008 kilometers, while the all-wheel-drive version is quoted at 880 kilometers. BYD says the car can flash-charge from 10 percent to 97 percent in nine minutes, a figure that stretches by about three minutes at minus 30 degrees Celsius. The 1,008-km LiDAR Premium rear-drive trim starts at 235,900 yuan; the rear-drive LiDAR Flagship is 249,900 yuan; the 880-km all-wheel-drive LiDAR Flagship tops the range at 275,900 yuan.

Performance and equipment are pitched at the premium end. Rear-drive cars use a 370-kW (496 hp) motor and hit 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds. Adding a 200-kW front motor takes combined output to 570 kW and drops the sprint to 3.3 seconds. Standard across the line are DiSus-A dual-chamber air suspension, road preview and rear-wheel steering, with a minimum turning radius of 4.95 meters. The sedan measures 5,256 mm long, 1,999 mm wide and 1,510 mm tall on a 3,130-mm wheelbase, with a drag coefficient of 0.197.

Driver assistance comes via the God’s Eye B LiDAR-based system with God’s Eye 5.0 capabilities, supporting navigation assist on city streets and highways. Cabin highlights include two front zero-gravity seats, Nappa leather, a 31-speaker Devialet audio setup and soft-close doors on all four. Buyers currently get a year of free flash charging plus trade-in support of 10,000 yuan for existing BYD owners and 6,000 yuan for other brands.

Only battery-electric versions launched; a PHEV Da Han has been filed for regulatory approval, but pricing was not announced. The Da Han sits above the existing Han and joins the Da Tang SUV in pushing the Dynasty range upmarket. The timing matters: Han-series sales have slid sharply, with September volume at 2,529 units, down 70.90 percent year-on-year and 30.83 percent from August, while the first nine months totaled 44,324 vehicles, off 68.86 percent. On September 29, a Da Han became the 10-millionth vehicle to roll off BYD’s Dynasty production line, and the Da Tang EV had reached 40,222 sales by the end of September.
