BYD Expands Electric Commercial Lineup With Flagship Heavy Truck, New Vans

BYD has pulled the covers off a new range of electric commercial vehicles, headlined by a flagship heavy-duty truck that the company says can travel roughly 600 kilometres on a single charge. The Chinese automaker also introduced a pair of smaller battery-electric trucks alongside a fresh electric van, rounding out a broader push into the commercial segment.

Central to the flagship’s capability is BYD’s Blade battery pack, which the company claims supports charging rates of up to 1.5 MW. If that figure holds up in real-world operation, it would place the truck among the fastest-charging electric commercial vehicles announced to date, a meaningful consideration for fleet operators who measure downtime in lost revenue.

The reveal reflects a widening trend in the heavy vehicle market, where manufacturers are moving beyond passenger cars to target haulage and delivery fleets. Range and charging speed remain the two metrics that matter most to logistics companies weighing a switch from diesel, and BYD’s latest offering appears aimed squarely at both.
