BMZ Poland and EVE Join Forces on LMFP Battery for Heavy-Duty Electric Trucks

BMZ Poland has partnered with Chinese cell maker EVE Energy to create a new LMFP battery aimed at electric commercial vehicles. The product, named Versora LMFP, was unveiled at IAA Transportation. According to the companies, it delivers several benefits over standard LFP chemistry, such as lower weight, increased charging power, and improved performance in cold conditions. Volume production is scheduled for mid-2028.

The collaboration highlights a growing push to tailor battery technology for the demanding requirements of heavy-duty transport. By moving to LMFP, BMZ Poland and EVE aim to address key pain points like range anxiety and slow charging that have hindered electrification in the commercial sector. The lighter pack could also allow for greater payload capacity, a critical factor for fleet operators.

While full specifications have not been released, the announcement signals that LMFP is gaining traction as a viable option for large vehicles. The mid-2028 production timeline suggests that further testing and validation will take place before the battery reaches the market. This development could play a role in accelerating the adoption of electric trucks across Europe and beyond.
