Audi Splits China Operations: SAIC to Focus on Ringless AUDI Brand, FAW on Four-Ring Models

Audi is reshuffling its joint venture strategy in China, according to Chinese media reports. The company’s partnership with SAIC will reportedly concentrate solely on the new AUDI sub-brand, which uses a ringless logo, while the traditional four-ring Audi vehicles will be consolidated under the joint venture with FAW.
This division of labor suggests Audi wants to keep its established premium identity separate from the newer, potentially more experimental AUDI line. The move could also streamline decision-making and marketing in the world’s largest EV market.
Audi has not yet officially confirmed these restructuring plans. The report does not specify a timeline or further operational details, so it remains unclear how quickly the changes would take effect.
As Audi continues to expand its electric lineup in China, such a split would let each joint venture focus on a distinct brand and customer base. We’ll update this story as more information becomes available.
