Astemo Pours $112M into Kentucky Hybrid EV Motor Expansion

Astemo Americas is ramping up its hybrid electric vehicle component operations with a $112 million investment across its two manufacturing plants in Berea, Kentucky. The expansion adds close to 300,000 square feet of combined production and warehousing space, positioning the facilities to handle a significant boost in hybrid EV motor output.

This funding marks the opening phase of a longer-term initiative aimed at increasing production of hybrid powertrain components throughout Astemo’s Kentucky footprint. The move aligns with sustained demand for hybrids, which continue to bridge the gap for buyers not yet ready to go fully electric.

By beefing up capacity now, Astemo is betting on hybrids remaining a key part of the automotive mix for years. The Berea sites are expected to play a central role in supplying automakers with the motors needed for next-generation hybrid models.
