Xpeng Teases Mona L05 SUV Ahead of Q4 Debut, Targets 60,000 Monthly Sales

Xpeng has released a teaser for its upcoming Mona L05 SUV, a move that signals the company’s intent to capture a larger share of the youth-oriented electric vehicle market. The announcement, made via the company’s official Weibo account, positions the L05 as a spacious five-seater SUV, though specific launch dates and pricing details remain under wraps for now. This debut is a key part of Xpeng’s strategy to revitalize its sales figures as it approaches the end of the year.

The Mona L05 is designed to slot into the lineup above the recently launched compact Mona L03 SUV. According to regulatory filings, the L05 is a mid-size SUV measuring 4,870 mm in length, 1,930 mm in width, and 1,636 mm in height, with a substantial wheelbase of 2,940 mm. Buyers will have the choice between two powertrain options: a battery electric vehicle (BEV) version and an extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) variant. The BEV model is equipped with a 71.1-kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, promising a CLTC range between 615 and 660 kilometers. Meanwhile, the EREV version combines a 1.5-liter range extender with a 37.2-kWh battery pack. Both variants share a drive motor that delivers 183 kW (245 hp) of maximum output.

This teaser comes at a crucial time for Xpeng, which is working to reverse a challenging year in terms of deliveries. The company recently introduced the 5-seat G9L SUV, creating a dual-flagship lineup alongside the GX SUV. While the Mona L03 has seen strong demand with over 10,000 units delivered in September, overall delivery numbers have been mixed. Xpeng delivered 41,256 vehicles in September—a 2026 monthly high, but still slightly below the previous year’s figures. For the first nine months of the year, total deliveries stood at 284,367 units, down 9.20% year-on-year.

Chairman and CEO He Xiaopeng has set an ambitious target to exceed 60,000 vehicles in monthly sales during the fourth quarter, a goal that represents a roughly 45% increase over September’s performance. The launch of the Mona L05 is expected to be a cornerstone of this push, aimed at attracting younger demographics looking for a blend of space, technology, and electric performance.
