Xpeng Rolls Out Dark Knight Package for P7+ Sedan, Mirroring Nio's Design-Package Strategy

Xpeng has introduced a new appearance-focused option bundle for its P7+ sedan, dubbed the Dark Knight package, aimed at giving the mid-to-large electric sedan a sharper street presence without touching its mechanicals.
The company announced the package on its official Weibo account on Friday. It carries a standard list price of 10,000 yuan, but Xpeng is offering early buyers a limited-time figure of 6,000 yuan, roughly $890 — a 40 percent discount off the sticker. The option can be added to any version of the P7+ in the lineup, and display vehicles equipped with the bundle are expected to reach showrooms in waves. A key point is what the package does not include: Xpeng lists no changes to the powertrain, battery or assisted-driving hardware, meaning the upgrade is purely aesthetic.
The visual treatment centers on a Midnight Black exterior finish matched to a Lava Gray cabin, accented by exclusive red seat belts and red contrast stitching. Outside, buyers get 20-inch six-spoke sport wheels, Flame Red caliper covers, and darkened logos and lettering, while the interior gains metallic-look trim panels.
Even while promoting a cosmetic update, Xpeng restated the P7+‘s technical credentials. The sedan claims an 88 percent space utilization rate, and its extended-range electric variant is rated at a combined CLTC range of 1,550 kilometers. The battery-electric version reaches up to 725 kilometers on the CLTC cycle. The model rides on an 800-volt architecture with 5C fast charging that can take the battery to 80 percent in 12 minutes, and it carries Xpeng’s second-generation VLA assisted-driving system with a maximum effective computing power of 2,250 TOPS.
The move follows a playbook that rival Nio has leaned on heavily for the past two years, periodically freshening existing models with special colors and design bundles rather than waiting for a full redesign. Nio’s Onvo brand launched a Starry Gold package for its L90 large SUV on September 23 at a 10,000 yuan list price with a 6,000 yuan promotional rate, and had already rolled out a Starlight package for the L80 on September 11. The main Nio brand has introduced a Lanyue package for the third-generation ES8 and an Aura Edition for the EC6, while the Firefly brand has used similar tactics multiple times.
The 2026 P7+ went on sale in China on January 8, adding an extended-range option for the first time, with BEV and EREV versions both starting at 186,800 yuan (about $27,520). It is offered in four variants; the BEV uses either a 61.7-kWh or 74.9-kWh pack for CLTC ranges of 615 and 725 kilometers, while the EREV pairs a 49.2-kWh battery with a 45-liter fuel tank for 430 kilometers of electric-only range and 1,550 kilometers combined. The P7+ originally debuted in China on November 7, 2024 as a BEV-only model, and Xpeng said on January 9 that the 100,000th example had been built, 14 months after launch. The refreshed car went on sale in Europe the same day and began large-scale overseas shipments in February, with Xpeng saying it would reach 36 countries and regions.
