Xiaomi EV May Deliveries Up 17% Year-on-Year, But YU7 Momentum Wanes

Beijing — Xiaomi’s electric vehicle arm handed over 32,759 units in May, marking a 16.94% increase compared to the same month last year. However, the monthly total slipped 10.74% from April’s figure, indicating a cooling trend in recent demand.
The automaker’s growth trajectory remains positive, though the sequential decline points to shifting market dynamics. Industry observers note that the YU7 model, which had been a strong performer, is now experiencing softer sales, contributing to the overall slowdown.
This delivery update comes amid intensifying competition in China’s EV sector, where price cuts and new launches are reshaping consumer preferences. Xiaomi continues to ramp up production capacity, yet the latest numbers suggest that even popular models face headwinds in a saturated market.
Despite the monthly dip, Xiaomi’s year-to-date performance underscores its resilience, with the company betting on upcoming variants and software updates to reignite buyer interest in the coming quarters.
