VW Slashes ID. UNYX Prices in China and Adds LiDAR to 06 and 07

Volkswagen’s Anhui joint venture has taken another swing at China’s crowded EV market, updating the ID. UNYX 06 coupe SUV and ID. UNYX 07 sedan with new driver-assistance hardware and sharply lower price tags — just five months after both cars originally went on sale.
The headline number is the ID. UNYX 07 Lite, which carries a promotional sticker of 99,900 yuan ($14,860) for the Double 11 shopping festival. That makes it the first fully electric Volkswagen to break below the 100,000 yuan mark in China. Regular list pricing for the sedan runs from 109,900 to 149,900 yuan across four variants; the ID. UNYX 06 comes in three trims between 129,900 and 169,900 yuan, with its Lite version offered at 119,900 yuan during the same promotion.
Compared with the May launch, entry prices for both cars have dropped by 20,000 yuan. Back then, the 06 started at 149,900 yuan and the 07 at 129,900 yuan.
LiDAR and a Horizon chip arrive
The bigger technical story sits under the sheet metal. Volkswagen Anhui has fitted a LiDAR-based assistance system running on Horizon Robotics’ Journey 6H chip, enabling Navigation on Autopilot in urban traffic. The refreshed ID. UNYX 07 is sold with either a camera-only setup for highway navigation or the LiDAR package for city driving.
That LiDAR version can handle parking-space-to-parking-space assisted driving, and VW says it manages U-turns at busy urban junctions, squeezing past oncoming traffic on narrow streets and recognising access gates. It is a meaningful step up for a brand whose Chinese EVs have often been criticised for lagging local rivals on software.
Battery news rounds out the update: both models now offer a 77.5 kWh pack, pushing maximum CLTC range to 630 km for the ID. UNYX 06 and 670 km for the ID. UNYX 07.
Dimensionally the two cars stay as before. The 07 stretches to 4,853 mm long, 1,852 mm wide and 1,566 mm tall on a 2,826 mm wheelbase, powered by a 170 kW motor. The 06 is the more compact coupe SUV at 4,663 mm long, 1,860 mm wide and 1,617 mm tall, with a 2,766 mm wheelbase.
The speed of the refresh is telling. VW Anhui said back in May that LiDAR-equipped higher trims would arrive in the second half of the year, and here they are. The same playbook was used on the ID. UNYX 08 SUV in September, when its limited-time starting price fell to 189,900 yuan — 40,000 yuan under its April launch figure.
Volkswagen Anhui began life in 2017 as a tie-up between VW and Anhui Jianghuai Automobile Group, with the German side lifting its stake to 75% in late 2020. Rapid product updates and aggressive pricing look like the joint venture’s chosen route to staying relevant in a market where domestic brands set the pace.
