University at Buffalo Rolls Out First Electric Buses in Stampede Fleet

The University at Buffalo has put eight new 40-foot electric transit buses into service, marking the first time its Stampede fleet has moved beyond diesel. The vehicles now carry students, staff, and campus visitors on daily routes.

The deployment is not a one-off trial. It launches a four-year plan aimed at electrifying the university’s campus transportation system step by step.

With the buses running quietly across campus, UB joins a growing group of institutions rethinking how their shuttle networks are powered.
