TVS Motor Brings Its Electric Scooter Line to Kenya, Opening Its First African EV Market

India’s TVS Motor is pushing its electric mobility business into a new continent. The company has introduced its iQube electric scooter in Kenya, marking its first entry into Africa’s EV market. The move turns the spotlight on a region where electric two-wheelers are still an emerging segment, while giving TVS a beachhead outside its home base.

Kenya has been drawing attention as a growth market for battery-powered two-wheelers, thanks to rising fuel costs and growing interest in cleaner urban transport. For TVS, the iQube represents a familiar product that can be exported into a market with fewer entrenched electric competitors.

The launch also signals TVS’s broader intent to scale its EV operations geographically rather than relying solely on Indian demand. Africa’s two-wheeler sector is large, but electrification there remains at an early stage, leaving room for first movers to shape the market.
