The Hot Rod Company's 1,000 BHP 427 LS Crate Engine Is Boosted From Day One

The Hot Rod Company has a new halo V8 on its shelves: a 427 cubic-inch LS crate engine that makes a claimed 1,000 bhp thanks to a Magnuson supercharger. It’s sold as a turnkey package for high-powered GM builds, restomods and anything else that needs forced induction with the plumbing already sorted.

The heart of the package is Magnuson’s Magnum TVS2650 blower, which pairs Eaton’s 2.65-litre four-lobe rotor with a liquid-to-air intercooler and arrives as a bolt-on solution. Around it, The Hot Rod Company builds each engine on a Dart LS Next aftermarket block, then fills it with a K1/Scat 4340 forged crank, H-beam rods and RaceTec 2618 forged pistons with steel top rings meant for boosted duty. Coated bearings, LS9 head gaskets, head studs, HRC Dominator cylinder heads and a buyer-selected BTR camshaft round out the spec sheet. A Holley Terminator X ECU and harness handle engine management, and an accessory drive is included.

The engine belongs to the company’s Power Adder Series, which is designed from the start for supercharging, turbocharging or nitrous rather than adapting a naturally aspirated build later. The rotating assembly is balanced and blueprinted to within 0.25 gram, and buyers get a two-year, unlimited-mile warranty. The Hot Rod Company, run by JR and Katie Roby out of Spokane Valley, Washington, assembles every engine with a single builder who signs the block when it’s done.
