Tesla's China Retail Deliveries Slip Again in August, Down 12.4%

Tesla’s retail performance in China weakened once more last month, with 50,047 vehicles delivered to customers in August, according to data tracked by CnEVPost. That figure extends a downward run: it is the third consecutive month in which the company’s China retail sales have declined year over year.
The broader picture for the year is similarly muted. Across the first eight months of 2026, Tesla’s retail sales in China have fallen 12.44% compared with the same period a year earlier, underscoring the pressure the US automaker faces in its second-largest market.
The sustained declines suggest Tesla is struggling to hold momentum in China’s fiercely competitive EV segment, where domestic brands continue to roll out new models at a rapid pace.
