Tatra's Iconic 8x8 Off-Roader Gets a Massive Electric Makeover

For the first time in its storied history, Czech manufacturer Tatra has electrified its legendary 8x8 off-road truck. The new Force e-Drive BEV promises to deliver exceptional performance with a torque output that reaches a staggering 1,917 lb-ft, ensuring it can tackle the toughest terrains with ease.

Engineers equipped the electric truck with two distinct transmissions and a fully independent suspension system for each axle. This design not only improves ride comfort but also enhances wheel articulation, which is critical for navigating uneven ground.

While Tatra hasn’t disclosed the full specifications yet, the company emphasizes that the electrified powertrain maintains the rugged DNA of its combustion-powered siblings. Early tests indicate that the e-Drive can handle steep gradients and heavy loads, making it a viable option for industries that require heavy-duty off-road capability.
