Solar Team Eindhoven’s ambitious solar-powered ambulance, Stella Juva, has successfully completed its first real-world assessment in Kenya. The student-led project took the vehicle to remote regions of the East African country, where it underwent rigorous practical testing focused on medical emergency response capabilities.

The field trial saw Stella Juva cover more than 800 kilometers across varied terrain, putting its solar-electric drivetrain and range reliability to the test far from conventional charging infrastructure. The team evaluated how effectively the vehicle could serve as a mobile medical response unit in areas where standard ambulance services and grid access are often limited.

This African expedition follows the vehicle’s official unveiling at the start of August. For the Eindhoven-based team, the Kenyan tests represent a crucial step in proving that solar mobility can offer practical, life-saving solutions in regions with constrained energy resources.
