Saietta Group Unveils Axial-Flux In-Wheel Motor Tech for EVs

British engineering firm Saietta Group has pulled back the curtain on its in-wheel electric motor technology, a design it believes can reshape how future EVs are packaged. The company’s axial-flux motors are built to sit directly inside the wheel, removing the need for a conventional drivetrain layout.

By placing the motor at the wheel, Saietta’s approach opens up space that would otherwise be swallowed by driveshafts and a central motor, giving designers more freedom over vehicle proportions and interior room. Axial-flux architecture is also prized for its compact, lightweight character compared with more familiar radial-flux units.

The reveal adds Saietta to a growing list of outfits betting that in-wheel motors could play a larger role in next-generation electric platforms, particularly for smaller urban vehicles and specialised applications where packaging efficiency matters most.
