Rivian Debuts RivianOS 2, Bringing R1 and R2 Under One Software Platform

Rivian has begun distributing RivianOS 2, described as the most sweeping redesign of its vehicle software to date. The update marks the first time the automaker’s entire lineup — both the R1 and the newer R2 — runs on a common software foundation.

The rollout, labeled as version 2026.31, is now reaching compatible R1 and R2 vehicles. Among the changes are a freshly engineered user interface, graphics powered by Unreal Engine 5, live alerts for police presence and speed cameras, plus an expanded artificial intelligence system that Rivian markets under the name Unified Intelligence.

By consolidating its software across two vehicle families, Rivian aims to simplify future updates and deliver a more consistent experience to owners regardless of which model they drive.
