Ras Al Khaimah Greenlights Four-Vertiport Air Mobility Network

Ras Al Khaimah is taking a concrete step toward urban air travel. The emirate’s Transport Authority (RAKTA) has signed a binding deal with Skyports Infrastructure to build and run an Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) network, centered on a planned four-vertiport system. Commercial flights are targeted for the third quarter of 2027.

The rollout starts with two sites: Al Marjan Island and Jebel Jais, chosen to link two of Ras Al Khaimah’s flagship destinations. Two more vertiports would follow in later stages, pending further planning, business case work and regulatory sign-off. The facilities are being designed to handle multiple certified electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft types and approved operators as the sector matures.

The network is meant to serve both intra-emirate travel and cross-border hops, with Dubai earmarked as the first inter-emirate link, tying into AAM infrastructure taking shape there. The agreement builds on a partnership that started in 2024 and progressed through a memorandum of understanding and a framework agreement in 2025, shifting the program from planning into implementation.

RAKTA frames the project as part of broader transport planning as the emirate expands tourism, hospitality, real estate and infrastructure. It also aligns with Ras Al Khaimah’s Comprehensive Mobility Plan 2030, which prioritizes connectivity, sustainability, innovation and transport integration. The vertiports are expected to complement existing road and public transport by offering point-to-point connections between selected destinations, with development focused on safety, regulatory compliance, operational readiness and integration with the wider transport network.
