QuantumScape and Honda Launch Multi-Year Solid-State Battery Research Partnership

QuantumScape has announced a multi-year research agreement with Honda focused on solid-state battery technology. The collaboration brings together QuantumScape’s expertise in solid-state cell design with Honda’s engineering and manufacturing capabilities, aiming to push the technology closer to real-world automotive use.

Solid-state batteries are widely viewed as a promising next step for electric vehicles, offering the potential for higher energy density and improved safety compared with conventional lithium-ion cells. Bringing them to mass production, however, remains a significant technical challenge that has kept the technology largely in the lab.

The deal signals continued momentum for QuantumScape as it works to commercialize its battery platform, and it adds another major automaker to the list of companies exploring solid-state research partnerships.
