PowerUp America Wins NEVI Funding for Four North Carolina Fast-Charging Sites

PowerUp America, a US-based charge point operator, has been chosen to receive four funding awards under North Carolina’s National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) program. The awards will support the deployment of public DC fast charging stations in four communities: Chocowinity, Plymouth, Wadesboro and Whiteville.

Each of the selected towns sits along a key transportation corridor in North Carolina, positioning the new sites to serve both local drivers and longer-distance travelers. The buildout is part of the broader NEVI effort to fill gaps in the nation’s public charging network using federal and state funding.

Kempower has been named as the equipment supplier for the project, according to the announcement. The four locations represent a modest but meaningful addition to the state’s fast-charging footprint, extending access beyond major metros into smaller communities.
