Porsche Reportedly Mulls New Halo Supercar and Macan-Sized Combustion SUV

Porsche is weighing a major expansion of its lineup that could see a new flagship supercar positioned above the 911, alongside an internal-combustion SUV roughly the size of the Macan, according to Autocar India. The two projects, still in the planning stage, would mark a notable strategic shift for a brand that has been pushing hard toward electrification.
The proposed halo model would sit at the very top of Porsche’s range, above the 911 — a move that would give the marque a fresh flagship to anchor its performance credentials. A separate combustion-engined SUV in the Macan footprint would cater to buyers in markets where EV adoption is slower or charging infrastructure remains patchy, providing a fuel-burning alternative to the electric Macan.
The reports come as Porsche navigates softer demand for electric vehicles and a more cautious global transition to battery power. Rivals across the premium segment have been recalibrating their product plans, extending the life of combustion models and adding plug-in hybrid options where full electrification has proven slower than expected.
If confirmed, the two vehicles would represent a balancing act: preserving Porsche’s reputation for driver-focused performance while keeping a foot in the combustion era for as long as regulators and customers allow. The company has not announced timelines, pricing or production locations for either project, and no official confirmation has been issued.
For enthusiasts, the prospect of a supercar above the 911 is likely to generate significant interest, given the 911’s long-standing role as Porsche’s performance benchmark. The Macan-sized ICE SUV, meanwhile, would slot into one of the brand’s most commercially important segments, where combustion power still accounts for the bulk of sales in many regions.
