PG&E Opens V2X Enrollment to More Brands, Offers Up to $17,000 in Home Backup Incentives

Pacific Gas & Electric is widening the roster of electric vehicles eligible for its Vehicle-to-Everything initiative. The California utility has now welcomed models from Tesla, Kia, Volvo, Polestar and Nissan into the fold, giving more drivers a route to use their car’s battery as a source of household electricity.

Alongside the broader vehicle lineup, PG&E is dangling financial carrots worth as much as $17,000 to encourage participation. The utility has also named Bidirectional Energy and PowerFlex as its approved program partners, handling the technical side of connecting an EV to a home’s power supply.

Drivers who want in have a window that runs through June 30, 2027 to sign up. The move signals growing utility interest in bidirectional charging as a tool for grid resilience, not just a niche feature for early adopters.
