Peugeot Reveals Two Electric Concepts in Paris: Rally-Inspired E-T16 and RCZ Vision Coupé

Peugeot used the Paris Motor Show stage to pull the covers off two battery-electric concept cars, each tapping into a different chapter of the brand’s back catalogue. The first, the E-T16 Concept, takes its cues from the celebrated 205 T16 rally machine, while the second, the RCZ Vision, reimagines the RCZ coupé as a modern EV.

The E-T16 Concept is a clear nod to Peugeot’s Group B heritage, translating the aggression of the original 205 T16 into an electric format. Notably, the French manufacturer says the concept’s interior previews the cabin layout that will appear in the next-generation E-208. That detail matters: it suggests the E-T16 is not purely a design exercise but a rolling hint at how Peugeot intends to package its forthcoming compact electric hatchback.

The RCZ Vision approaches the electric era from a different angle. It resurrects the name and silhouette of the RCZ coupé — a model that earned a following for its distinctive aluminium roof arches — and rebuilds the idea around a battery-electric powertrain. Peugeot has confirmed that the concept features a solid-state battery, a technology that several automakers are racing to bring to production because of its potential for higher energy density and faster charging compared with conventional lithium-ion cells.

Positioning one concept as a rally tribute and the other as a sports coupé gives Peugeot two very different emotional entry points into electrification. The E-T16 leans on the brand’s motorsport credibility, while the RCZ Vision appeals to drivers who care about styling and driving character. Together they signal that Peugeot wants its electric line-up to carry the same personality as its combustion past rather than blending into the crowd of anonymous EVs.

The concepts arrive at a time when European brands are under pressure to make electric cars desirable as well as affordable, and show cars like these are often used to test public reaction before design and technology decisions are locked in. Peugeot has not indicated when, or whether, either concept will reach production, so for now they remain design and engineering statements from the Paris show floor.
