Lyten Targets Morrow Batteries After Northvolt Acquisition

Lyten, the US battery developer, is setting its sights on the insolvent Norwegian manufacturer Morrow Batteries. This move follows Lyten’s recent acquisition of the Swedish battery producer Northvolt. The company appears to be expanding its European footprint by absorbing struggling cell makers to boost its production capabilities and technology portfolio.
If the acquisition is finalized, Morrow’s operations, particularly its battery technology development, could remain at its current site in Arendal, Norway. This would preserve local expertise and potentially shield jobs in the region. The deal underscores a growing trend of consolidation in the battery sector as established players seize opportunities from financial distress among emerging manufacturers.
Lyten’s interest in Morrow comes after the latter was declared insolvent, although specific financial details of the potential takeover have not been disclosed. The acquisition would add Morrow’s LFP cell production lines to Lyten’s assets, aligning with the growing demand for lithium-iron-phosphate batteries in the EV market.
As Lyten integrates these European assets, the company could leverage Morrow’s research and development strengths to accelerate its own solid-state battery technology. The outcome of this deal will be closely watched by industry analysts, as it may signal further consolidation across the battery supply chain.
