LG Energy Solution’s Michigan Megafactory Starts Production, Targets 35 GWh Annual Output

LG Energy Solution has officially commenced battery cell production at its new Lansing, Michigan facility, marking a major milestone for the company’s North American expansion. The megafactory is designed to supply up to 35 gigawatt-hours of battery capacity annually, which could support hundreds of thousands of electric vehicles each year. The plant is expected to create around 1,700 jobs by the time it reaches full capacity, underscoring the growing importance of domestic battery manufacturing in the United States.

The Lansing site is part of LG Energy Solution’s broader strategy to localize production and reduce reliance on overseas supply chains, especially as automakers ramp up EV output. With this facility online, the company strengthens its position as a key player in the U.S. battery market, competing with other major suppliers.
