Leapmotor's B03X Electric SUV Heads to Australia in November, Undercutting BYD on Price

Chinese manufacturer Leapmotor is preparing to put its foot on the accelerator in Australia, with the new B03X small electric SUV scheduled to arrive there in November carrying a drive-away starting figure of $29,990. That sticker positions the newcomer squarely against the 2026 BYD Atto 2 Dynamic, and on the face of it, Leapmotor comes out ahead on price.
The B03X range is split into two trim levels: the entry Style and the longer-legged Design LR. The Style runs a 39.8 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) pack feeding a 130 kW motor that delivers 200 Nm of torque, which Leapmotor says is good for as much as 292 km of range on the WLTP cycle. Step up to the Design LR and the battery grows to 53 kWh while output rises to 145 kW, stretching the quoted range to 382 km. Both versions post the same 8.6-second sprint to 100 km/h and top out at 160 km/h.
Fast-charging capabilities differ between the pair as well. The Style accepts DC power at up to 100 kW, while the Design LR can take up to 133 kW, enough to move from 30 to 80 per cent in roughly 16 minutes. Both also offer vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality, letting owners draw up to 3.3 kW from the car to run external devices.
Inside, every B03X comes with a 14.6-inch centre touchscreen, an 8.8-inch digital instrument display, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a reversing camera with dynamic guidelines, and Leap Pilot Level 2 driver assistance. The Design LR layers on 18-inch alloys, heated front seats and a heated steering wheel, a 12-speaker surround sound setup, multi-colour ambient cabin lighting, front parking sensors, and a 360-degree camera system with a built-in dashcam.
The headline 26,990 for the Style and $30,990 for the Design LR.
For now, at least, that promotional pricing lands below the 2026 BYD Atto 2 Dynamic, which is listed in Australia from 35,500 mark once drive-away expenses are added.
