Kia EV5 as a Mobile Power Station: A Camping Trip with Vehicle-to-Load

What happens when you pair an electric SUV with a small caravan and head to the Polish Baltic coast? For us, it was a real-world test of the Kia EV5’s dual role: a capable tow vehicle and a mobile energy hub. With its 81.4 kWh battery and vehicle-to-load (V2L) capability, the EV5 powered our campsite appliances without a hitch. The setup was simple - just plug in and enjoy the comforts of home, from charging gadgets to running a mini-fridge.

One of the most surprising aspects was the energy consumption with a trailer attached. Despite the added drag, the EV5 managed its range efficiently, making the journey both practical and pleasant. The combination of a robust battery and smart energy management means that long weekends off-grid are well within reach.
