Kia EV2 Off to a Fast Start: 3,386 UK Registrations and Rising Demand

Kia’s compact electric SUV, the EV2, has made an immediate mark in the UK. Since full customer deliveries kicked off in the middle of the third quarter, the model has already racked up 3,386 registrations so far this year, with 1,753 of those landing in September alone. Kia describes the response as “significant and immediate demand,” and the numbers back that up.
The EV2’s timing has been especially helpful for Kia’s broader momentum. Orders opened across Europe and the UK back in April, and more than 8,000 EV2s were sold during its first full three months on the market. That wave of deliveries helped push Kia to its best-ever third-quarter sales performance since it started selling vehicles back in 1962. Today Kia stands as the fastest-growing brand among Europe’s top ten automakers, with an electric lineup stretching from the entry-level EV2 all the way up to the three-row EV9 and the PV5 van.
Kia’s momentum in Europe is not limited to one model. EV registrations climbed 58% year-on-year through August, giving the brand a 4.8% share of the European EV market and seventh place overall. Growth has been particularly sharp in France (+120%), Germany (+112%), the UK (+66%), Spain (+60%), and Italy (+41%). While the EV3 remains one of its most popular electric vehicles, newer additions like the EV2, EV4, and EV5 are adding fresh volume.
In the UK, Kia has delivered 31,813 electric vehicles year-to-date, representing more than a third of its total registrations there. That positions the brand as the UK’s second best-selling electric car marque, trailing only Tesla. The EV2 was also the country’s most popular retail-market EV in September with 1,429 registrations, while the PV5 Cargo has become the UK’s best-selling small electric commercial vehicle at 4,654 units year-to-date, and the PV5 Passenger led the van-derived car segment last month.
The EV2 Air long-range edition starts at £24,245 in the UK after the £3,750 Electric Clean Car Grant is applied. Buyers can pick from four trims — Light, Air, Earth, and GT-Line — paired with either a 42.2 kWh or 61 kWh battery, delivering up to 317 km (197 miles) and 453 km (281 miles) of WLTP range respectively. American buyers will not see the EV2 or PV5, but the 2027 EV3 is now on sale in the US starting at about $30,000, and Kia is tracking toward a fourth straight record sales year there.
