Jeep Wagoneer and Ram 1500 Range-Extender EVs Hit Another Production Delay

Buyers waiting on the extended-range electric versions of the Jeep Grand Wagoneer and Ram 1500 will have to hold out a little longer. The two Stellantis models, both designed to pair a battery pack with a combustion engine acting as a generator, have been pushed back once again, according to a report from Electrek.

Extended-range electric vehicles occupy a middle ground between conventional hybrids and fully battery-powered cars. The gasoline engine never drives the wheels directly; instead it works only to recharge the battery, which then feeds the electric motors. That setup can ease range anxiety for shoppers who are not ready to commit to a pure EV.

For Stellantis, the repeated schedule slips raise questions about how quickly the company can bring its electrified lineup to showrooms in the US. The automaker has been positioning EREV technology as a practical bridge for truck and SUV customers who still need long-distance capability, particularly for towing and hauling.

No new launch window has been confirmed, and it remains unclear how far the timeline has shifted. This is not the first setback for either vehicle, and each additional delay adds pressure on Stellantis to keep pace with rivals that are already selling electrified pickups and large SUVs.
