IMA Offloads Majority Stake in Motor Equipment Maker ATOP to Lichtenberg Capital

IMA has agreed to hand over a controlling interest in ATOP, its electric motor manufacturing equipment unit, to Lichtenberg Capital. The deal reshapes ownership of a supplier whose machinery sits behind the production of traction motors used in hybrid and battery-electric vehicles.

For IMA, the transaction marks a narrowing of focus, while Lichtenberg Capital gains a foothold in the tooling that underpins electrified drivetrain output. Financial terms were not disclosed in the announcement.

The move lands as automakers and their suppliers keep pressing for more efficient motor production capacity, a segment where equipment specialists like ATOP hold a quiet but influential position.
