Hyundai Greenlights Santa Fe EREV and Genesis GV80 Hybrid for Production

Hyundai has officially confirmed that two new electrified models will join its lineup: an extended-range electric version of the Santa Fe SUV and a hybrid variant of the Genesis GV80. The announcements signal the automaker’s commitment to broadening its eco-friendly offerings across both mainstream and luxury segments.

The Santa Fe EREV will combine a battery-electric drivetrain with a small gasoline engine acting as a generator, extending total driving range beyond what a pure EV could achieve. Meanwhile, the Genesis GV80 Hybrid will pair a combustion engine with an electric motor to deliver improved fuel efficiency and lower emissions without sacrificing performance.

These moves reflect Hyundai’s strategy to cater to diverse customer needs as the market transitions toward electrification. By offering multiple powertrain options, the company aims to reduce range anxiety and provide flexibility for drivers not yet ready to go fully electric.
