Hubject and Plugo partner to bring Plug&Charge to Japan

German roaming specialist Hubject has teamed up with Japanese charging infrastructure provider Plugo to push forward Plug&Charge adoption in Japan. The collaboration aims to simplify the EV charging experience by enabling automatic authentication and billing, eliminating the need for RFID cards or apps.

Plugo will leverage Hubject’s Plug&Charge ecosystem, which is based on ISO 15118 standards, to offer its customers a seamless and secure charging process. This partnership is expected to accelerate the rollout of Plug&Charge-compatible charging stations across Japan, aligning with the country’s growing electric vehicle market.

By joining forces, the two companies intend to establish a more user-friendly charging infrastructure, which is a key factor in encouraging broader EV adoption. The move also underscores the importance of international cooperation in standardizing EV charging technologies.
