How Custom Containers Streamlined Damaged Battery Logistics for Renewance

Handling damaged, defective or recalled (DDR) battery packs comes with strict dangerous goods rules, and those rules have long forced companies to ship just one battery per container. For Renewance, which processes retired EV and grid-storage batteries in large volumes, that one-per-box constraint translated directly into higher costs and slower turnaround.

The company addressed the bottleneck by adopting Obexion AG, a reusable and stackable container from DGeo that was engineered from the outset to carry several DDR batteries at once. With this packaging, Renewance can combine multiple units into a single shipment while lowering the transport hazards that come with moving compromised cells.

Sterling Picton, who oversees end-of-life project solutions at Renewance, described the container as a purpose-built tool rather than an adapted general-purpose box.
