Horizon Aircraft and Great Lakes Helicopter Team Up for Cavorite X7 Support

Horizon Aircraft has taken another step toward bringing its hybrid-electric VTOL design to market by signing a Letter of Intent with Ontario-based Great Lakes Helicopter. The agreement covers maintenance, repair and overhaul work, pilot training support, and the possibility that GLH will buy a number of Cavorite X7 airframes. Neither side has shared how many aircraft are involved or what the deal could be worth.
The idea is to have operational support ready before the Cavorite X7 reaches commercial service. Great Lakes Helicopter already runs helicopter operations, flight training and aircraft maintenance across Ontario, including through its affiliate Rotor Services. That affiliate is building a new maintenance facility, which is expected to become part of the proposed service network for the Cavorite X7.
Beyond upkeep, the two companies want to set up pilot training pathways so future operators can prepare crews ahead of actual Cavorite X7 operations — something that depends on the aircraft completing testing and certification first. Horizon describes the Cavorite X7 as a hybrid-electric VTOL that shifts between vertical take-off and landing and conventional wing-borne flight, aimed at regional transport, emergency response and military missions.
Horizon is still working toward testing and certifying a full-scale Cavorite X7 before any production begins, and it has not given a confirmed date for when the aircraft would enter commercial service.
