Himax Introduces Single-Chip eDP TDDI Solution for Large Smart Car Displays

Himax Technologies has unveiled a new eDP TDDI (Embedded DisplayPort Touch and Display Driver Integration) product aimed at large-format smart car displays. By combining touch and display driver functions into a single chip, the solution simplifies the design of in-vehicle infotainment and digital cockpit systems, helping automakers reduce component count and wiring complexity.

The move into the eDP domain reflects an industry-wide push to support higher resolution and larger screens inside vehicles. As smart car interiors evolve with more sophisticated displays, chipmakers are under pressure to deliver silicon that can handle greater bandwidth and more responsive touch input without adding bulky hardware.
