GAC Expands Into Nordic EV Market With Aion UT Hatchback

GAC is bringing its Aion UT compact electric hatchback to Denmark and Norway, two of Europe’s most EV-friendly markets, with the Sulland Group’s import arm Electric Way managing sales in both countries. Journalists from both nations gathered in Copenhagen on 17 September 2026 for a joint launch event that included a brief driving session. Pricing and dealer information will be shared later through separate national announcements.

The Aion UT measures 4,270 mm long with a 2,750 mm wheelbase, offering 440 litres of cargo space that grows to 1,600 litres when the rear seats are folded down. GAC claims up to 430 km of range under WLTP testing, and the car carries a five-star Euro NCAP rating. Standard equipment includes a heat pump, a 14.6-inch touchscreen and adaptive cruise control.

Separately, GAC held a two-day public test-drive event in Austria on 18 and 19 September at Atelier 7121 and Nils am See, where the Aion V and Aion UT were available to media, fleet buyers and members of the public who signed up in advance. The company’s willingness to court potential retailers suggests it is still constructing its dealer network in Austria, where it also assembles vehicles.

GAC runs its European operations from Amsterdam, with parts logistics handled out of Rotterdam, using an importer model to grow its presence without the expense of building a sales network from scratch.
