Fibocom Expands Indian Footprint: LE250 Modules Drive Grid-OS 4G Vehicle Trackers

Fibocom has deepened its collaboration with Indian device maker Grid-OS, with its LE250 cellular modules now powering two 4G vehicle trackers showcased at India Mobile Congress 2026. The partnership, which initially focused on payment hardware, has evolved to address India’s rapidly growing telematics demand. The LE250 modules integrate LTE connectivity with GPS and BeiDou positioning, enabling the trackers to transmit real-time vehicle location and operational data. This shift from payment devices to vehicle trackers reflects a broader trend among Chinese module manufacturers seeking to capitalize on India’s expanding IoT ecosystem.

The LE250 modules also support OpenCPU, allowing device makers to run their own application code directly on the module, and over-the-air firmware updates. According to Fibocom, these features simplify development and streamline long-term maintenance. As vehicle tracking adoption accelerates, the requirements for connectivity, power efficiency, and positioning accuracy are becoming increasingly diverse.

India’s large-scale IoT rollouts are gaining momentum. The National Payments Corporation of India reported that Unified Payments Interface transactions reached 24.51 billion in August 2026. Grid-OS’s payment soundbox, built on Fibocom’s LE270 module, operates for about seven to eight days on a 2,000mAh battery. As an original design manufacturer, Grid-OS handles everything from product development to mass production.

Ronald Chan, Vice President of Asia-Pacific Sales at Fibocom, commented: “India is an important IoT market for Fibocom. Our collaboration with Grid-OS, expanding from payment soundbox to vehicle tracker, demonstrates how our diversified wireless portfolio can support local partners across different device requirements and accelerate commercial deployment at scale.”

The partnership highlights how global module suppliers are positioning themselves to serve India’s fast-growing connected vehicle and IoT sectors. With telematics adoption on the rise, Fibocom’s expanded role with Grid-OS could signal further localization and innovation in the Indian market.
