EVN Enters German Fast-Charging Market with BayWa Mobility Charging Acquisition

Austrian utility company EVN has signed an agreement to acquire BayWa Mobility Charging, marking a strategic move into Germany’s competitive fast-charging sector. The deal brings EVN a ready-to-operate network of 170 high-power charging (HPC) points spread across 30 locations nationwide.

This acquisition aligns with EVN’s broader expansion strategy, allowing it to tap into Germany’s growing electric vehicle market without building infrastructure from scratch. The existing charging sites are predominantly along highways and major transit routes, positioned to serve long-distance travelers.

BayWa Mobility Charging, a subsidiary of the German trading group BayWa, has been developing its HPC network since 2019. The completion of the transaction remains subject to regulatory approvals, though both companies expect to finalize the process within the coming months.
