Coulomb brings high-power bidirectional charging to its mobile battery units

Coulomb Solutions has expanded the capability set of its newest mobile energy storage systems by integrating Megawatt Charging System connectivity in both directions. This move allows the units to not only accept rapid top-ups from MCS sources but also to dispatch electricity at high wattage to heavy-duty vehicles and other demanding loads.

The company positions this addition as a way to bridge the gap between grid-scale charging infrastructure and the field. Fleets operating in temporary or remote locations can now use the same high-capacity standard that is being adopted for long-haul electric trucking, potentially simplifying power handoffs at depots, ports, and construction zones.

By having MCS on both the supply and demand sides, the systems can act as flexible buffers—absorbing energy when available and releasing it when needed. This dual-role design could help operators avoid costly grid upgrades while still supporting fast charging sessions for commercial electric vehicles.

While specific vehicle integration details were not disclosed, the announcement highlights the company’s focus on making electrification more practical for logistics-heavy industries that cannot rely on permanent charging setups.
