Chery Sets Up German Headquarters, Prepares to Launch Chery Q EV

Chery is laying the groundwork for its German market debut with a new headquarters in Frankfurt am Main, which will include showrooms for the core Chery brand as well as its Omoda and Jaecoo sub-brands. The Chinese automaker, already active in Spain, Poland, and the UK, plans to enter Germany in the first half of 2027 with a lineup initially focused on hybrid SUVs, followed by its first all-electric model for Europe, the Chery Q.
The Chery Q is a compact electric car measuring 4.19 metres in length, 1.81 metres in width, and 1.56 metres in height, with a 2.70-metre wheelbase. It offers 375 litres of boot space plus an additional 70 litres under the front bonnet. Power output is rated at 89 kW, and the battery has a capacity of 41 kWh. Chery quotes a range of up to 400 kilometres on the NEDC cycle—a standard that is rarely used in Western markets today—and says the car can charge from 30 to 80 per cent in 17 minutes. A Vehicle-to-Load function is also included. No WLTP figure or specific DC charging power has been released yet.
The Chery Q will be the first model sold in Germany under the main Chery brand, rather than through its sub-brands. It will join a hybrid-focused launch portfolio that includes the Tiggo 4 full hybrid, the Tiggo 7 (available as a full or plug-in hybrid), and the seven-seat Tiggo 8 and Tiggo 9 plug-in hybrids. Pricing for all models has yet to be announced.
To support its market entry, Chery plans to start with 30 partner dealerships in Germany, expanding to at least 100 locations by the end of 2027. Eric Zheng, CEO of Chery Auto Deutschland, emphasised that the brand aims to make electric mobility accessible to families without compromising on budget or safety. Patrick Reimers, Country Director for Chery, noted that the company positions itself alongside brands like Škoda and Hyundai rather than other Chinese newcomers.
Chery’s move comes as several Chinese brands, including Leapmotor, Xpeng, and Geely, are also pushing into Germany. Chery, which has been China’s top passenger car exporter for 23 years, reported record deliveries in July 2026 of over 275,000 vehicles, about half of them electrified. The company is present in 130 countries, including 25 EU member states.
