Chargecloud Teams Up with Hubject to Extend Plug&Charge to AC Chargers

Plug&Charge technology has so far been largely limited to DC fast charging, where drivers can simply plug in and start a session without using an app or RFID card. The charging software provider Chargecloud is now working to bring this convenience to AC charging points as well.

To achieve this, Chargecloud has partnered with Hubject, the Berlin-based operator of the Plug&Charge roaming network. The collaboration will leverage Chargecloud’s backend and Hubject’s ISO 15118-based services to enable Plug&Charge at AC stations.

This move could be significant because AC charging is still widely used, especially for overnight charging at workplaces, hotels, and other destinations. According to Chargecloud, the integration will help unify the charging experience across different power levels.

No specific timeline or financial details were provided, but the companies indicate that the first joint implementations are expected soon.
