Canada-to-Mexico Zero-Emission Trucking Corridor Announced

State governments along the North American West Coast have teamed up to develop a zero-emission trucking corridor spanning from British Columbia, Canada, to Baja California, Mexico. The initiative, dubbed the BC2BC ZEV Corridor, aims to facilitate cross-border freight transport using electric and hydrogen-powered heavy-duty trucks.

The roughly 2,222-kilometer route will be equipped with megawatt-level charging stations and hydrogen refueling infrastructure, allowing trucks to travel the full distance without gaps in energy supply. The collaboration between Canadian, U.S., and Mexican state governments underscores a growing commitment to decarbonizing the trucking sector on a continental scale.

This corridor is expected to support the transition to zero-emission vehicles (ZEVs) by providing the necessary infrastructure for both battery-electric and hydrogen fuel cell trucks. The initiative aligns with broader efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from goods movement and improve air quality along the West Coast.
