BYD Targets 2.5 Million Overseas Sales by 2027 as Logistics Take Center Stage

BYD has set its sights on shipping 2.5 million vehicles to overseas markets by 2027, a goal that puts manufacturing capacity and supply chain execution ahead of customer demand as the company’s central challenge. According to Automotive World, the Chinese automaker’s plan depends heavily on expanding its network of foreign factories, along with the shipping and logistics operations needed to move that volume across borders.
The figure represents a significant step up from BYD’s nearer-term ambitions. The company has also raised its 2026 export target to 2 million units, signaling that its international push is accelerating faster than previously expected.
Rather than being driven primarily by buyer interest abroad, the strategy hinges on whether BYD can build and operate overseas production and distribution infrastructure at scale. That makes industrial execution — not market appetite — the deciding factor in whether the 2027 goal is met.
