BMW iX4 Coupe-SUV Surfaces in Leaked Images Ahead of Debut

BMW’s newest electric model has broken cover early. Images of the upcoming iX4 coupe-SUV appeared online this week, just days before the model is expected to make its official debut, giving enthusiasts a first real look at the brand’s latest Neue Klasse design language in a sportier package.

The iX4 is designed to take over from the current X4, slotting in alongside the recently introduced iX3 and i3 as BMW refreshes its lineup around its next-generation electric architecture. According to BMW, the new electric coupe-SUV will reach the market by the end of 2026, and it will be offered in two configurations: the 40 xDrive and the 50 xDrive. Both send power to all four wheels, but they differ in output and driving range.

Mechanically, the iX4 shares its foundation with the new iX3 SUV, adopting BMW’s sixth-generation eDrive system paired with a 108.7 kWh battery. For comparison, the 2027 iX3 50 xDrive delivers a WLTP range of up to 500 miles (805 km), while the US version uses a larger 112.2 kWh pack rated at up to 434 miles on the EPA cycle. Buyers shopping the European iX3 40 get 628 km (390 miles) of WLTP range, hinting at what the more affordable iX4 variant could offer.

On the outside, the leaked photos show a silhouette that leans far more toward a grand tourer than a conventional SUV. A sweeping, rakish roofline replaces the boxier proportions of the iX3, giving the iX4 a fastback-like stance and a sportier character overall. The cabin follows BMW’s Neue Klasse interior theme, built around a 17.9-inch central touchscreen, a redesigned steering wheel, and the Panoramic Vision 3D head-up display that spans the width of the dashboard.

BMW has not confirmed an exact reveal date, but the iX4 is set to appear this fall, with reports pointing to a full unveiling later this week. Pricing remains under wraps, though the coupe-SUV is expected to command a slight premium over the iX3. For reference, the 2027 iX3 50 xDrive starts at $61,500 in the US and €73,925 in Europe, while the iX3 40 begins at €63,400 in Europe. Whether buyers will favor the sleeker iX4 over its more practical sibling will become clearer once BMW releases full specifications and pricing.
