Arla Foods adds four DAF XD Electric trucks to its Danish dairy fleet

Arla Foods is continuing to build out its zero-emission logistics operation, taking delivery of four more battery-electric DAF XD Electric trucks. The 6x2 vehicles will be used to haul chilled dairy products across Denmark, operating out of the company’s Hobro depot.
The Hobro site now hosts a dedicated charging facility built specifically to support the new trucks, a crucial piece of infrastructure for running electrified heavy transport on regular routes. Denmark’s relatively compact geography and grid make it a reasonable proving ground for battery-electric distribution work, and each successive order gives fleet operators a clearer picture of how the technology performs in daily service.
DAF’s XD Electric line is aimed squarely at regional and distribution duty, the type of work where a battery truck can return to base and recharge overnight rather than depending on a sprawling public charging network. Arla Foods has been steadily electrifying its transport operations as part of broader efforts to cut emissions from its supply chain, and this latest batch expands a fleet that is already running electric vehicles.
For DAF, the order is another vote of confidence in its electric range from a blue-chip customer, arriving as European hauliers weigh the total cost of ownership of battery trucks against diesel over longer duty cycles. The handover follows other recent deliveries of XD Electric units to food and logistics customers, underscoring the growing appetite for electric distribution vehicles in the region, where stricter urban access rules and corporate climate targets are pushing fleets toward zero-emission options.
The wider significance lies in the charging build-out at Hobro. Private depot chargers remain the backbone of heavy electric truck operations, so each new installation adds to the body of experience that operators need when deciding whether to commit to electric fleets. Arla Foods has not said how many additional electric trucks it plans to add, nor whether the Hobro charging site will be expanded to accommodate more vehicles.
