Aptera's Solar EV Confirmed to Generate Up to 4.75 kWh Daily in Independent Tests

Aptera’s solar-powered electric vehicle has long promised to harness the sun for everyday driving, and now an independent certification body has backed up that claim with real-world measurements. TÜV Rheinland, a German testing and certification firm with a 150-year history, conducted three days of on-site solar evaluations at Aptera’s headquarters in Carlsbad, California.

The results, which were released by the company, show that the vehicle generated between 4.23 and 4.75 kWh of usable energy per day from solar panels alone. That translates to approximately 42 to 47 miles of driving range under sunny conditions, according to the test data. While the exact figures varied across the three days, the findings underscore the potential of the vehicle’s integrated solar array to significantly extend its range without plugging in.

The independent verification adds credibility to Aptera’s claims, as the company prepares to bring its three-wheeled solar EV to market. By leveraging its aerodynamic design and solar efficiency, Aptera aims to offer a sustainable mobility solution that reduces reliance on charging infrastructure for daily commutes.
