Aito Confirms Autumn 2027 European Launch at Paris Motor Show

Chinese premium electric marque Aito has set a firm date for its long-awaited push into Europe. At the Paris Motor Show, the Seres Group brand confirmed that its market entry is targeted for autumn 2027, with preparations already underway to satisfy local regulatory requirements and build what it calls a “comprehensive localisation” strategy built largely around service and distribution. Which European countries will be first has not been disclosed.

Aito sits inside the Seres Group and was created in December 2021 as a home for high-end smart EVs. The arrangement behind the badge is a familiar one: Seres supplies the vehicle platform while Huawei contributes the digital and software layer, an association that has shaped how the brand is perceived both at home and abroad. Its name is a contraction of “Adding Intelligence to Auto”, and the lineup spans both battery-electric models and range-extender vehicles — a dual approach the company has leaned on heavily in its domestic market.

That domestic record gives Aito a substantial base to build from. Cumulative deliveries are now said to have passed 1.2 million vehicles, and until recently the brand operated almost entirely within China. Its first moves beyond that market came last year, when it announced plans to export three of its electric cars globally; the rollout has since begun in the United Arab Emirates, and Europe is the next step up in scale.

The cars on display in Paris are not debuts — they are already on Chinese roads, where they carry the names Aito M6 through M9. The Aito 9 serves as the flagship luxury E-SUV, measuring 5.23 metres long with a 3.11-metre wheelbase and offered as either a battery-electric or range-extender model in five- or six-seat layouts. Beneath it sit the Aito 8 premium E-SUV, the Aito 7 large crossover SUV with five to six seats, and the mid-size Aito 6 crossover. All four ride on the Seres MF platform and draw their batteries from CATL.

That battery relationship has been deepening. Seres recently said it would expand its work with CATL with Aito as the centre of attention, focused on scaling up production under a factory-in-factory model. CATL already runs a battery assembly plant inside the grounds of the Seres Super Factory in Chongqing, and a second construction phase is planned with annual capacity of 10 to 12 GWh. Combined with the first phase, the site is expected to exceed 20 GWh per year once complete. The opening stage was commissioned in June 2025, when CATL started up two pack lines using its Cell-to-Pack 2.0 technology — the company’s first production base in Chongqing and its first plant-in-plant project. Colocating battery system manufacturing with vehicle assembly is intended to tighten industrial processes and sharpen cost competitiveness.

Positioning will be the key question for European buyers. Clifford Kang, Board Member and Vice President of the Seres Group, framed the brand’s pitch around a blend of traditional and technological luxury: “For AITO, New Luxury is where traditional luxury meets technological luxury,” he said, describing an effort to combine performance, comfort and craftsmanship with intelligence embedded in both the vehicles and the services around them.
