AEM to Showcase Largest Rare-Earth-Free Electric Motor for Heavy-Duty Trucks at IAA

Advanced Electric Machines (AEM), a UK-based startup known for its rare-earth-free electric motors, has announced plans to present a 3D model of its most powerful and highest-torque motor yet at the upcoming IAA Transportation show in Germany. The company says the motor, designed specifically for heavy-duty commercial vehicles, will be available as prototype samples starting next year.

AEM’s technology eliminates the need for rare earth materials, which are often associated with supply chain risks and environmental concerns. The new motor is expected to offer significant torque and power density suitable for large trucks, positioning it as a key component in the electrification of the commercial vehicle sector. The unveiling at IAA will give manufacturers a first look at the motor’s design and specifications.

According to AEM, the motor is part of its broader strategy to provide sustainable and cost-effective drivetrain solutions for heavy-duty applications. With Europe’s push toward cleaner transport, the motor is likely to attract interest from truck makers aiming to meet upcoming emissions regulations.
