Xpeng Sets Sights on 1 Million Annual Sales by 2030, With Europe Supplying Half

Xpeng has laid out an ambitious long-term blueprint: reaching 1 million vehicle sales a year by 2030, with Europe expected to contribute roughly half of that total. Chairman and CEO He Xiaopeng shared the figure during an interview at the Paris Motor Show, according to Bloomberg, and pointed to local production capacity as the company’s single biggest hurdle on the continent.

The European goal translates to about 500,000 vehicles a year in the region — a volume that would put Xpeng ahead of several established players. By comparison, Ford delivered more than 426,000 units in Europe in 2025, while Opel logged around 400,000 registrations.

To get there, Xpeng is leaning on localized manufacturing rather than exporting from China. The company has been in talks with contract manufacturer Magna International about raising output at its Graz, Austria facility, and is weighing additional production options elsewhere in Europe. Xpeng has not disclosed how much extra capacity it needs, which countries are under consideration, or whether any concrete investment commitments have emerged. The company frames the strategy as building a durable business on the ground, drawing a parallel to Volkswagen’s long-standing investments in China — a relationship that runs deeper, since VW is both a shareholder and a technology partner.

Local assembly began in September 2025, with the G6 and G9 SUVs and the P7+ sedan rolling off the Graz line. The flagship G9L SUV followed with trial production on October 7, becoming the fourth model built locally, though a full-scale start date has not been announced.

Underneath the ambition, Xpeng’s overseas momentum is already accelerating. September exports topped 10,000 units for the first time at 10,055, more than doubling year-on-year. Across the first nine months of the year, overseas deliveries totaled 59,479 vehicles — a 100.11% jump — and accounted for nearly 21% of the company’s overall volume, even as total deliveries slipped 9.20% to 284,367. The Paris show also saw the European launch of the G9L, part of a lineup push meant to support the sales targets ahead.
